This project included the construction of a seven storey office building and adjacent car park for Cashel Chambers Ltd, and the office building fitout for their tenant the IRD.
All on site management, craneage, concrete works, carpentry, onsite propping, scaffold, temporary works, partitioning, joinery and stonework trades were undertaken by C Lund & Son Ltd.
The structural work on the project involved complex precast manufacture and erection. C Lund & Son Ltd manufactured hundreds of precast items of up to 30 tonne weight, to exacting tolerances and the highest level of quality.
A feature of the IRD Building is the exterior façade which is a precast concrete grid on some elevations, precast fins wrapping over the building on others and polished concrete columns. The standard of finish on all precast concrete is very high.
Our technical drawing office played a key role in the high standards of all precast construction that have been achieved. They completed accurate workshop drawings for the precast manufacturing team and with our engineers they resolved precast delivery and erection sequences, temporary propping arrangements, formwork requirements for on site concrete work, transportation and lifting arrangements for precast and craneage and access requirements for heavy plant. They also carried out an effective Quality Assurance programme for precast that ensured precast was correctly built and defect free when it arrived on site and could be placed in position in the best possible time.
This in turn allowed the subcontractor responsible for the exterior glazed façade to have confidence in the structure and tolerances achieved by C Lund & Son Ltd Installation of this purpose designed and built prefabricated glazed façade system went very well and more quickly than originally allowed in the construction programme.
